In conjunction with this year's TAM, the district is organising a very exciting exercise to share the benefits of Toastmasters with the public.
The highlight of the program will see about 100 of our members stationed in various locations in Singapore to invite members of the public to a free workshop so that they can learn about its program and how it can be of use to them.

"Most important, leaders can conceive and articulate goals that lift people out of their petty preoccupations and unite them in pursuit of objectives worthy of their best efforts." - John Gardner
The District leadership is perhaps one of the most fulfilling leadership journey that you experience. As a district leader, you are part of the driving force with a noble mission: To help more men and women learn the arts of speaking, listening and thinking – vital skills that promote self-actualization, enhance leadership potential, foster human understanding and contribute to the betterment of mankind.
Every year, as part of the leadership renewal process, the district holds the electoral process to select the right leaders to best serve the district and members and in ensuring the long term success of the district.
It is my pleasure to announce that our IPDG Goh Wei Koon, DTM, has kindly accepted the nomination as the District Nominating Chair for the forthcoming nomination season.
The Nominating Chair will be in charge of nomination for the following offices for the term 2010-2011: 1) District Governor; 2) Lieutenant Governor Education & Training; 3) Lieutenant Governor Marketing; and 4) Division Governors (with the exception of Divisions H & K).
The following three offices will, in accordance with the district practice, be by appointment: 1) District Public Relations Officer; 2) District Secretary; and 3) District Treasurer.
Election of Area Governors will be dealt with in a separate announcement.
More details about the nomination will be broadcast in due course. Meantime, those who are interested in running for any of the above elected offices may wish to familiarise themselves with the policies and procedures concerning district election.

Renew Your Promise – Do It Now!

July is always special to us. It marks the end of the first six months of the year, and beacons the need to buck up and to catch up. More importantly it signifies the beginning of a new Toastmasters year!
The month of July this year is especially meaningful to me:
I am grateful for the faith our past district leaders have on me.
I am grateful for the support and trust from our Members.
I am grateful for the competent district administration team rallying behind me.
I am grateful for the opportunity given to me to serve.
I shall be even more grateful if all our Members subscribe to our 2009 – 2010 District Theme – “Renew Your Promise”, take it seriously, and put it into action:
“As a member of Toastmasters International and my club, I promise...
To attend club meetings regularly;
To prepare all my speech and leadership projects to the best of my ability, basing them on projects in the Competent Communication, Advanced Communication Series or Competent Leadership manuals;
To prepare for and fulfill meeting assignments;
To provide fellow members and helpful, constructive evaluations;
To help the club maintain the positive, friendly environment necessary for all members to learn and grow;
To serve my club as an officer when called upon to do so;
To treat my fellow club members and our guests with respect and courtesy;
To bring guests to club meetings so they can see the benefits Toastmasters membership offers;
To adhere to the guidelines and rules for all Toastmasters educational and recognition programs;
To maintain honest and highly ethical standards during the conduct of all Toastmasters activities."
All the tasks in The Toastmaster’s Promise are never challenging as long as we accept them whole-heartedly and make it a habit in practising them. When we keep our promise, we will be able to achieve what we have aspired to become. Clubs will be more vibrant and productive. Continuous growth, either at club level or in personal context, is guaranteed. Everyone will benefit from the Toastmasters program and enjoy being on the journey.
Fellow Members,
What are you waiting for? Renew Your Promise – Do It Now!
