Greetings my dear Toastmasters, How was your Lunar New Year? Did you enjoy yourself? And if you did not celebrate it, was it a good break to spend time with your family, Catch up with friends? If I’ve missed wishing you through sms, I apologise. May I wish you all the best this coming year for Great Career Advancement and Great Health and Wealth. Some of you were wondering why there were less emails from the district over the last 2 months. Well its cos you deserve a break from the emails coming your way. I thought it is now opportune to update you. One Kudos to the many champions who worked so hard to help these new clubs charter since July 2012 when this term started. Pls help me congratulate and welcome the new clubs:
The persons who were instrumental in identifying, starting the clubs will be receiving the Club Extension Award Pin and the Club Sponsors & Mentors will also get the Newly minted pins. Our LGM & her committee is working hard with the Divisions to form new clubs. If you have a club to form in any company, church, temple, association – regardless of race, language or religion, Do drop us a mail. I congratulate the many of you who have introduced TMs to their friends, family & colleagues and sponsored (By way of introduction, not by paying for them) their membership when they joined.. If you sponsor 1, you receive a decal from TI, 2 a Member Sponsor Pin from us, 5 & 10 from TI, and 8 & 12 an Outstanding Member Pin from us again. Do invite someone to your few club meetings. Pls help me congratulate the winners who are listed here :
Keep up the good work you are doing, and encourage each other to excel. For the New members, cherish and appreciate the older members who sacrifice their time to coach and mentor you. For the older members, continue to Sharpen the Saw and polish your leadership, mentoring and coaching skills. It is only in giving that we receive, so the more you give, the more you receive. We are also going to have the May “Reach for the Stars convention” in May. I hope to see you attending it. The Committee has been working very hard to put up a good convention and I’m sure you will be enriched by it. Look out for details next week. Warm Regards,

Dear District 80 officers & Fellow Toastmasters in Singapore & Thailand What a great start to 2013 ! We had the opportunity of showcasing Toastmasters to 3 prospective clubs in January. Manulife, Experimental Therapeutics & Satyam all had more than 50 employees including management present at the sample meeting. There must be more corporations out there who can benefit from Toastmasters. As informed in previous communications, if you are working for a corporation & currently a Toastmaster, let us know how the District or our LGM team can be invited to your corporation to speak on Toastmasters or to showcase what Toastmasters can do for your company, management & staff. With Toastmasters International’s ongoing membership drive ‘1+1’, bring that friend, colleague, superior, boss, neighbour, relative, spouse or even family member to your club so that they can benefit from Toastmasters as well. Also, with recent visits to some clubs, membership numbers are still weak and if all club & exco members prioritize and can focus on this area, we believe your club can achieve your membership goals before June 2013. To get a 10% discount on your next order from the Toastmaster’s online store, take advantage of the “Talk Up Toastmasters” membership contest. Add 5 new, dual or reinstated members to your club between Feb 1 – Mar 31 2013 to receive your discount & a special ribbon to display on your club banner. Make ‘members’ matter…here’s wishing you ‘gong xi fa cai’ as we usher in the year of the snake!

Hello district 80 officers & fellow TMs in Singapore & Thailand – as we end 2012, I’m sure we are all looking forward to 2013! For me, in most areas including Toastmasters, there were, indeed, rough patches I had to go through. In a sense, it was a year fraught with various challenges which I had to overcome and as per the saying : what won’t kill you will only make you stronger and tougher! At the various year-end parties including our Toastmasters’ meetings, besides celebrating the festive mood & cheer, are we also celebrating our Toastmasters’ successes? Besides education, what about our club, area, division successes in membership or club extension goals ?? With the ongoing ‘1+1’ membership drive by Toastmasters International, how successful are we in encouraging every member to bring a new member to our club ? With 6 more months to go before term end, let’s review, reinvent and revive our Toastmaster’s journey for even greater success! With our LGM team behind you : To all Division & Area Governors : what are we still not doing to help charter new clubs ? To all exco club members : what are we still not doing to bring about effective membership drive ? To all members : what are we still not doing to promote & publicise Toastmasters awareness ? Let achieving Toastmasters’ goals be one of our resolves in 2013! May you have a bountiful year ahead with abundant joy, health & wealt Lynda Neo Lieutenant Governor Marketing 2012-2013

My dear district 80 leaders, fellow Toastmasters of Dist 80 – If you have not had a chance to read & view our International President, John Lau’s email and video on Toastmasters International current ‘membership drive’ campaign, allow me to reinforce the campaign as below : Bring 1 prospect to your club. When the prospect becomes a member, Toastmasters will: - send you a personalised letter to congratulate you. - present you a ‘1+1 car decal’ for your car window. - recognise you on the ‘scrolling ‘1+1’ webpage - entitle you to a monthly draw to get a smart ‘1+1’ teeshirt Go to toastmasters.org/1plus1 to complete the ‘1+1’ form Additionally, the top 20 clubs that gain the highest number of new members through the 1+1 campaign by June 30, 2013 will receive a $250 store credit. For Districts: The top five districts that gain the highest number of new members through the 1+1 campaign by June 30, 2013 will receive a $500 store credit. World Headquarters will keep track of district efforts and announce the winners on July 22, 2013. Not forgetting, Dist 80’s specially minted ‘member sponsor’ pins by Dist Governor for 2 members, outstanding pin for 8 and 12 members & also from WHQ, TI pins for recruiting 5 and 10 members. Note also accuracy of TMs name/sponsor who invited or brought guest to be stated on form & not Club President, VPE, VPM or Treasurer…. In the words of our International President once again, today, Toastmasters International's membership is more than a quarter of a million strong, but together we can grow and cultivate the next generation of leaders and communicators.
